Announcements from the College Council Treasurer:

As the academic year comes to a close, we ask you to please make note of the following deadlines and points of information.

1) The deadline for reimbursement paperwork to be deposited in the College Council inboxes on the 5th floor of the DUC is Friday, April 24th 11:59 pm. Pay heed because that cutoff is this coming Friday! This paperwork includes reimbursements, small dollar vouchers (reimbursements below $75), vendor payment requests, relines, and internal transfer forms (moving money between your accounts) for anything that occurs this 2008-2009 school year. We have a zero tolerance policy of accepting late paperwork, which will result in no reimbursement.

2) The deadline for rectifying your accounts is Wednesday, April 29th 5:30 pm. If you are an officer-of-the-account (president or treasurer), then you may email Laura Rogers Reece (the SGA administrative assistant) to obtain your account histories and balances. If your self-gen account balance is negative at the end of the yearm, your club will be de-chartered and assets seized by the College Council.

3) Accounts will be closed over the summer and nothing will be processed May 11-September 1.

4) Please refer to the "CC Budget Committee" LL conference for further information. It has some great resources that already answer most of your questions, including Monetary Policy, the Treasurer's memos, and the Eagle Source. Email Brett Henson to be added to this conference.

5) The last Budget Committee meeting and last College Council meeting of the school year will be held this week.

For any questions or concerns, please contact College Council Treasurer Brett Henson via LL.

GOOD LUCK ON FINALS!!!

The College Council wishes everyone the BEST OF LUCK for Finals. We hope you have a restful and fun-filled Summer Break! We would also like to extend our congratulations to the graduating members of the College. We appreciate your hard work and dedication to the Emory community!

College Council Senior Recognition

The 54th College Council would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the graduating members of the 53rd Council. We extend our gratitude for their service to the Emory community and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.

We recognize:

Elizabeth Farrar - President

While College Council celebrates the election of Reema Dedania as our new fearless leader of our future, we look back into the very recent past to commemorate the countless accomplishments of our outgoing president Elizabeth Farrar. Elizabeth has served four years on College Council in an array of positions but with only one goal in mind: to serve her peers of the Emory College. She has improved transportation, voiced student needs for the new bookstore and the DUC, spearheaded intellectually stimulating events on campus, and implemented the Dooley Direct shuttles. It may be hard to believe, but that is only a small taste of what Elizabeth has done for Emory. Furthermore, Elizabeth has been the guiding light on the Council for several years. She worked strenuously to ensure that every legislator actively worked on projects and provided energy and motivation with her endless words of encouragement. Her vigor alone revived College Council's reputation in recent years and have made student government efficient and purposeful. Her impecable leadership has made many improvements on Emory's campus a successful possibility. She has touched the lives of many and is a mentor to those that know her well. Although it is hard to let go, College Council hopes the best for Elizabeth in the future and knows she will continue to achieve greatness in all her endeavors. We will miss you ever so dearly, Elizabeth!

Ashlee Tran - Vice President

Ashlee Tran is a graduating Senior whose work on College Council has made a tremendous impact. She served as the Chief of Staff for the 52nd Council and served this past year as Vice President on the 53rd Council. Ashlee's dedication, work ethic, and robust sense of humor made her an outstanding VP and a guiding force for the entire Council. Ashlee organized a plethora of programs including The Women's Leadership Forum, the Amethyst Initiative, and the Rock the Results events. Ashlee worked extensively to improve housing issues in the Sorority Village, collaborating closely with ISC. Furthermore, she lead an ongoing initiative to implement a streamlined flat fee laundry service for fraternities and sororities on Eagle Row. She also organized an impressive initiative to address the number of blue lights between the WoodPec and Eagle Row as well as between Peavine Parking Deck and Eagle Row, resulting in the EPD team checking these lights over Winter Break and changing them where necessary. Aside from Ashlee's impressive record leading initiatives, she guides other members of the Council in leading initiatives of their own. There have been many times this past year when I have asked Ashlee who I should address with a particular issue or how best I should approach a particular problem. She always makes time for other people and has helped me to the best of her ability. Her focus, dedication, and enthusiasm made her an effective and beloved Vice President. Her contributions to the College Council are countless and her work will continue to make an impact for many years to come.

Aidan Mouat - Treasurer

Aidan Mouat is truly a Renaissance Man. He has served as Treasurer of the College Council for the past 2 years - chairing the Budget Committee, reporting on your CC bills, and making sure you get your monetary issues resolved. Aidan's work has been integral to the functioning of the College Council, and we are grateful for all he does. His other interests include writing poetry and doing chemistry research. Aidan recently defended his thesis for a BS/MS in chemistry. He was also most recently named Emory's Student Leader of the Month. We wish him the best in his future endeavors after graduating, whether it be working for the U.S. State Department or doing anything else that's guaranteed to be awesome and impressive.

Benjamin van der Horst - Chief of Staff

Former Chief of Staff Benjamin van der Horst spearheaded the wireless internet initiative his senior year, leading the University to take a closer look at connectivity campus-wide. Because of his efforts, the University updated the wireless system in order to provide students with a better wireless network. Benjamin also played a large part in bringing the Dooley Direct and Emory Experience Shuttles to campus, allowing students more mobility around the University as well as the Atlanta area. The history major also played a major role in the free newspapers located around campus for students. As a legislator, Benjamin was always fiscally responsible, ensuring that the Council spent the Student Activities Fee in the best way to benefit students. The Council will surely miss Benjamin's hard work and dedication in responding to student concerns as well as keeping the Council financially accountable.

Sarika Kasaraneni - Senior Legislator

Sarika Kasaraneni is a graduating Anthropology Major with a Minor in Global Health. A Connecticut resident, Sarika has been a welcomed and well-loved member of the 53rd College Council. This year, Sarika has diligently put her efforts towards recycling improvement on campus. Her contributions to address the newly enacted $40 rent fee for space in Residence Halls also merits attention. During Council meetings, Sarika's warm, receptive, and eager personality has always been a welcome one to her fellow Council members as well as visiting bill authors. Sarika was truly a wonderful member of the Council and she will be sorely missed.

Jocelyn Shieh - Senior Legislator

During her time here, outgoing Senior Legislator Jocelyn Shieh has played an integral role in the development of the Emory community. Her care and commitment to her beliefs have helped shape Emory. Those fortunate enough to work with her learn a great deal from her humble attitude in regards to service. Jocelyn has served on College Council for the past three years through various positions and her involvement has led to many successes. Her other commitments have been extensive and are also noteworthy since she co-chaired this year's Relay for Life. The 54th College Council will truly miss her considerate, genuine and loving personality and wishes her the best of luck in her future endeavors.

Amit Shah - Senior Legislator

Amit Shah is a senior legislator from Roswell, Georgia. Amit has spent his time on the Council ensuring that student feedback is incorporated in the planning of the new University Bookstore. He has also played a role in researching course evaluation procedures at our peer institutions to learn about how Emory students can make more informative decisions when selecting classes. Additionally, he has worked to mass publicize the textbook exchange database --an effort that has trippled the activity on the conference! For all dedication and work to improve our community, the Council thanks Amit and wishes him the best of luck in medical school next year!

Abi Freeman - Senior Legislator

Abi Freeman is a senior legislator. Before joining the Council this semester, Abi previously served as Inter-Sorority Council President, a position in which she co-sponsored the first ever Women's Leadership Forum with College Council. This forum introduced freshwomen to the myriad of leadership opportunities at Emory before formal recruitment and provided ways to network with other campus leaders. For her eagerness and enthusiasm to join the Council during the second semester of her senior year, the Council wishes to thank Abi. We wish you the best of luck in the future!

Jenna Kelsey - Senior Legislator

Jenna Kelsey is a senior in the College from Berkeley Heights, NJ working towards a double major in Political Science and Sociology. As a legislator, Jenna contributed significantly to the establishment of the Emory Experience Shuttles and the Dooley Direct Shuttles. However, the Council will always remember Jenna for her adept, matter-of-fact debate which helped facilitate meetings and keep sessions progressing.  For her outstanding commitment to efficiency and effective debate, we would like to recognize Jenna. We wish her the best of luck at Law School in the Fall.
